The brakes are off for Lincoln team’s third year.

Lincoln-based and one of the UK’s top women’s cycling teams Pro-Noctis, Heidi Kjeldsen, 200 Degrees Coffee is shopping local as they collect this season’s bikes from local Liv supplier Giant Lincoln, based at Doddington Hall and Gardens.

The teams’ 2023 bikes represent a new partnership with Giant Lincoln and the perfect fit for the ten-strong team of riders. Liv, the first women’s specific cycle manufacturer, prides itself on designing bikes by and for women, with a geometry based on the female skeletal system, and with the game-changing 12-speed Shimano Ultegra Di2, the team can’t wait to hit the road.

Lincoln’s Jo Tindley, a former National Circuit Champion (2021), was one of the first to collect her bike:

“As a team and a rider, I’m excited; the bikes are fantastic. This is the first time we will have disc brakes as a team; this will give us a nice smooth break-in through the corners; with rim brakes, you must break nearly 30m before a corner, and because everyone else is on disc brakes now, it just levels up the game for us and gives us better control.”

Mark Hollingworth, the owner of Giant Lincoln, commented:

“We are delighted to be part of this. We have always heavily supported female cyclists, so it was a no-brainer when the opportunity came up to support a local and such a successful team with the Langma.”

Sam Jones, Sales Supervisor, Giant Lincoln, added:

“Taking all the best bits from the Avail and the Enviliv, the Pro0 is an incredible machine that will hopefully take them to many podium victories.

The Langma weighs in at just 8kg, a semi-wireless full carbon frame, boasting various customisable options. You can connect to an app or service tool to customise your shifting speed; you’ve got sprint buttons and climbing tools; cycling is no longer just the bike you pedal. The customisation and tunability are endless.”

Teammates Millie and Corinne are eager to get racing again, but before the first races of the season in March, they are looking forward to testing the bikes at a preseason training camp in Calpe later this month.

“The disc brakes will make a big difference to us; we can stop quicker and sharper, giving us the performance and confidence to stop the bike in all weather, particularly in wet conditions, which happens a lot in the UK.”

The team’s first big national race in the UK will be the Cicle Classic on 26th March, an opportunity to really test the bikes with a circuit that includes off-road farm tracks and gravel.

Going into year three, the British Circuit Series Champs and Tour Series Champs are going from strength to strength and have added new riders and sponsors to the roster.

“We have much more depth to the team, ten riders, and some really talented girls coming on board. We have a few climbers, all-rounders, and criterium riders; it’s a bigger team but stronger.” Jo Tindley added.

On why they are pledging their support to this Lincoln team, Maxim Burrows, Sports Marketing Manager Maddison – Freewheel commented:

“Freewheel has been supporting the tour series for the last few years, and we are really excited to be part of women’s cycling; in the UK, the scene is growing and improving each year, and it’s fantastic to be part of it.

For returning title sponsor Pro-Noctis, Phil Kelly is looking forward to continuing to support the team to reach its potential.

“We are proud to be the headline sponsor for the third year. The team offers us great alignment to the brand of Pro-Noctis in terms of providing opportunities, providing development skills, and supporting the girls to achieve their potential, which directly links to what Pro-Noctis is all about; it’s about helping people to be better.”
